Hello and welcome to Second Grade. I am excited to be teaching your child this school year.  My family and I recently moved from Kansas to Colorado; however, my husband and I are both Colorado Natives and we are glad to be back home.

I received my degree in Reading and Elementary Education from Eastern Michigan University.  I also have an English as a Second Language endorsement. While working in the Kansas City, Kansas School District for the past seven years, I taught grades K-5.  I especially enjoy teaching second grade students. I appreciate their independence, sense of humor, excitement to learn, and the fact that they still love their teacher.

This year we will read hundreds of books, explore and practice many writing techniques, investigate math concepts, do many project-based learning units in science and social studies, become better leaders, and participate in service opportunities in our community.

On a personal note my husband and I have four children. Mitchell (27) Ashlee and Emilee (identical twins 25), and Maxwell (20).  The oldest three have graduated from college and Maxwell will be a sophomore this year. My husband’s job has allowed us to live in Michigan twice, New Jersey, Kansas, and now Colorado.  I enjoy baking, exercising, and gardening. I love being a mom, a teacher and serving in my church and community.

I look forward to working with you this year.

Sincerely,

Kimberley Montini
